ZigBee Network Performance
Over the years I have often had questions on network reliability of customer networks running the standard ZigBee software stack. I typically have answered this with anecdotal evidence and experience but not necessarily hard data. As ZigBee networks expand and are used for more applications, it becomes more important to document some typical behavior so engineers understand what to expect for performance. As new engineers start design cycles using ZigBee they question what level of reliability or what level of network operation can be expected.
Attached is the first of what I hope is a number of papers trying to provide some real world experience around this. My thanks go to Twisthink for their hard work in providing this data, typical installation pictures and the system setup. Their system design and its high reliability is what is promised from these networks but they have put work in to make sure it works. They have also gone to the trouble of collecting the data to be able to validate it.
For those interested in publishing such data, let me know and we can discuss how to make your data publicly available.
